eTourism is the application of Information Technology (IT) or Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the travel , tourism and hospitality industry.
 
eTtourism may also be referred to as travel technology, e-travel or e-tourism. eTorurism can be defined as the analysis, design, implementation and application of IT and e-commerce solutions in the travel & tourism industry; as well as the analysis of the respective economic processes and market structures and customer relationship management.
 
eTourism includes virtual, as shown in the diagram, consist of the following key components:
  • Virtual tourism in the form of virtual tour technologies
  • History and description of sites
  • Travel tips for the visitors given by people who have visited the sites
  • Reservation system for the hotel, restaurant and tickets.

eTourism system contains four key components: virtual tourism, history and discretion of sites, travel tips for visitors and online reservation system.

For the virtual tourism part, I think this may be the most interesting part of this system. A virtual tour is a simulation of an existing location, usually composed of a sequence of video images. They also may use other multimedia elements such a sound effects, music, narration, and text. The video tour is a full motion video of a location. It is as if you were walking through a location. Using a video camera, the location is filmed while moving from place to place. Video tours are continuous movement taken at a walking pace. In the virtual tour, you can see any detail things of the site. You can just move yourself in the virtual sites through the mouse and keyboard. If you find this site has nothing interesting, you may change your original plan and find another place for you vocation. However, if you find that the sites is so exciting even seen from the virtual tour, it must be worthy to visit it by yourself. In this case, it can save you a lot of time and money. Also, if you decide to visit this site, when you moving in the virtual tour and find some restaurant or hotel, you can just walking into these places. Then you will be redirected to the website or the online reservation system of these place. It must be very convenient.

For the history and description part, our system has a database which contains the detail information of these sites. And these database all also connected with the e-library and synchronous with the e-library. This will guarantee that the information in our system is up to date. So the visitors can find everything they want to know through the system.

For the travel tips part, this is also the most attracting part. When visiting sites, every visitor must have their own feelings and instructions for other visitors. This must be useful for the visitors in many ways, such as choosing the right time to visit the sites, planning their schedule correctly to see more things and avoiding doing something that maybe harmful to themselves.

For the reservation part, it is convenient for visitors to booking the restaurants, hotels and the tickets for the sites before the vocation. For example, Online hotel reservations are a popular method for booking hotel rooms. Travelers can book rooms on a computer by using online security to protect their privacy and financial information and by using several online travel agents to compare prices and facilities at different hotels.
